Summer is often defined by vacations we take. This summer is likely different than those passed, so we have been planning some day trips to spice up life in restricted areas. We have gathered a few day trips for residents of Chester County that are within 2 hours’ drive. These locations are all currently open or will be open to some extent starting on Friday, June 5, 2020.

Marsh Creek State Park.

Marsh Creek is a family friendly state park that is open for public use at this time. Although the boat rentals have been closed, the public space is still active with people and pets! The water is open to those with their own boating equipment, and the rental building is said to be opening June 5th.

Chester County Golf Courses.

Golf courses in Chester County have been open for a few weeks now, and many are fully functioning at this time. This can be a great way to get out of the house for a bit of fun during these challenging times.

Sunflower Fields.

Although this may not take an entire day, it may give you and your family an excuse to dress nicely for some fresh and summery photos! The “Please Wash Me, Inc.” sunflower field in Elverson is well known for its photo ops.

New Jersey Beaches.

There are many beach along the coastline of New Jersey that are now open to the public. Some do not allow visitors to sit and stay for very long, you and your family could certainly still enjoy a walk on the beach and some fresh salt air!

Havre de Grace, Maryland.

Many are unaware of the gem of a town located just an hour from Chester County. This town fronts the Susquehanna River and the head of Chesapeake Bay, with plenty of public space to relax. It is also known for its glorious antique stores, many of which are open (masks required).

We hope you and your family will find some time to take a short trip together this summer, and most of all we hope you will stay safe and healthy. We are all in this together!
